Dual-Core (2-Core) Single-Mode Fiber: A dual-core fiber contains two separate cores within the same fiber cable. Each core can carry an independent light signal, effectively doubling the data capacity or enabling simultaneous bidirectional transmission. This is useful in applications where redundancy, higher throughput, or parallel data channels are required. Conceptually, a 2-core fiber is like a two-lane highway, allowing more traffic to flow simultaneously compared to a single-core fiber .
