These splitters are widely used in FTTH, GPON, EPON, and FTTX networks to distribute optical signals efficiently to multiple endpoints while maintaining signal quality and reliability .

Types of Box-Type Optical Splitters

Box-type splitters are primarily based on two technologies:

  1. Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) Splitters
    • Uses integrated waveguide technology on a quartz substrate.
    • Provides uniform light distribution across all outputs.
    • Suitable for high split ratios (e.g., 1×16, 1×32).
    • Common packaging options for box-type PLC splitters include:
      • ABS Box: Compact plastic enclosure, ideal for indoor installations and fiber access networks.
