  • Waterproofing and mounting: Some splice boxes are fully sealed for outdoor use, while termination boxes may be designed for indoor cabinet mounting .

Practical Use

In a typical fiber network deployment:

  1. Incoming fiber cables enter the termination box.
  2. Fibers are spliced to pigtails inside the box using fusion splicing.
  3. Pigtails exit the box and connect to patch cords or active devices.
